Hi there and welcome to Frugal Familia Fun!

I’m Angela; the mom/wife/line-cook/chauffeur/educator, etc behind the scenes here. I know firsthand how hard it is to manage a home, family, job and heck! even just LIFE sometimes.

Especially when it seems like there isn’t enough money to go around.

I teach high school Spanish as my day job, but it wasn’t always that way. I didn’t go back to college until my 1st born was 3 months old and my husband worked incredibly long hours at a low paid job just for us to make ends meet.

It was during those 4 years that I learned how to be incredibly resourceful and frugal with our money in the hope that we wouldn’t have too much debt by the time I graduated and found a job of my own.

I graduated in 2011 with a Masters of Teaching AND 6 months pregnant with our 2nd son. I was due in September 2011 and you can imagine that I wasn’t very hirable since school starts in August. Luckily I found a teaching job the following spring, but unfortunately a month later my husband had to leave his job. We had no choice but to rack up some credit card debt in order to pay our bills and have food on the table until I got my first paycheck.

Long story short, we’ve been a one (small) income family for 10 years now AND ARE DEBT FREE! Yes, we drive used cars (UPDATE! as of 2018, I now drive a NEW car, and thanks to building excellent credit, the 60 month loan is INTEREST FREE) and don’t always have the newest phone, but those small sacrifices are worth it to be 33 years old and have our house completely paid for.

I couldn’t have ever achieved it without the help of my loving husband(going on 12 years now)! He grew up in Mexico with practically nothing and learned at a very young age that new things couldn’t be bought so you had to keep the old stuff working.

He is the family mechanic, plumber, electrician and all around general contractor who has saved us literally thousands of dollars over the years.

When I’m not herding cats teaching Spanish in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband, and 3 children (ages 10, 6 and 4). As a child I also dreamt of becoming a chef, so I spend a lot of my time in the kitchen trying out new recipes.

To be quite honest I don’t really have that much down time so I love to veg out in front of the TV late at night and give in to my one guilty pleasure—Reality Shows— especially anything on Bravo.

I hope that you’ll stick around and I can teach you a thing or two from my years of trial and error when it comes to saving money, losing weight on a budget and taking care of your family and home.

Being frugal can be lots of fun and I aim to help you save money on the things you need so you have room in the budget for the things you want in life!!! P.S and we can save on those too 😉
